Barre: (Ages 3 and up) Instruction in basic terminology, body positions and technique are introduced while building these techniques through stretching, barre and floor work. Students develop an understanding of rhythms, music listening skills, and personal movement vocabulary.
Technique Training: (All ages) East meets west in this class where the upper body movements of Chinese dance are fused with the lower body movements of ballet barre work.
Chinese Basic Dance: (Ages 2.5 and up) Master the movement and intricate gestures developed over centuries that now constitute the basic technique of Chinese classical and folk dance.
Chinese Classical Dance: (Ages 12 and up) Perform movement rooted in the elegant ritual dances of the Imperial Palace using highly refined hand gestures, flowing silk sleeves, and feather fans.
Fitness: (All ages) Work on abdominal strengthening, flexibility and stamina.
Folk / Ethnic Chinese Dance: (Ages 3 and up) Enjoy lively dances that originated in the agricultural provinces, some incorporating drums, tambourines, fans, and colorful handkerchiefs. In addition, develop skills in the rich dance tradition of China's numerous ethnic tribes and nationalities, each with its own rhythm, signature movement, and style.
